The Filter Unit

The proposed filter design utilizes common, affordable, and readily available components. Standard pool filters are manufactured in large quantities; these are sold at most department and hardware stores. Other components include standard PVC pipe, a food tote, and a bulkhead.

The filter unit is designed to remove particulate or organic matter from water. The proposed filter design is a suggested option. However, gravity filters may be built in many ways that may use sand or various fabric-based filters. Any filter will require periodic replacement and/or cleaning as typical maintenance. The filter can also serve as a 'safety' flow regulator to buffer any sudden variations of inflow. As long as the inflow to the unit is reasonably stable, then the unit will consistently dose with high precision.
